HHS tennis defeats Broncos, fall to Blue Lions

Two days into this week and the Hillsboro Indians boys tennis team has won one and lost one, defeating the Western Brown Broncos and losing a South Central Ohio League match with the Washington Blue Lions.
On Monday, the Indians defeated the visiting Broncos 4-1, sweeping the singles events and winning one of the doubles events.
For the singles wins, Reese Leibreich swept Quade Kidwell in two sets by scores of 6-0, 6-1 in first singles.
The second singles win came when Alex Rhoads defeated Tanner Luck 6-2, 6-0, and in third singles Patrick Shanahan topped S. McKenzie 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets.
[[In-content Ad]]HHS won in first doubles as the duo of Brendan Eltzroth and Zach Basford won in straight sets over J. Burkley and S. Bush at 6-1, 6-2. In second doubles the HHS team of Sawyer Davis and Ryan Palmer lost to Nick Cuttler and J. Longbottom by scores of 6-7, 3-6, 2-6.
In a JV match, Michael Gunderman won eight-game pro sets at 8-1, 8-0.
The Indians lost Tuesday in an SCOL match to the Washington Blue Lions by a team score of 3-2, with HHS winning in first singles and first doubles.
Leibreich won first singles, defeating Drake Berlin 6-4, 6-2.
The Indians lost second and third singles, as Basford fell to Garret Phipps 1-6, 1-6 and in third singles Palmer dropped his match to Zach Johnson 0-6, 1-6.
HHS won first doubles when Rhoads and Eltzroth topped Joseph Smith and Carson Ferguson by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
In second doubles, Shanahan and Gunderman fell to Austin Robinson and Gerritt Mallow 6-2, 4-6, 2-6.
HHS will play again on Thursday at Clinton-Massie in SCOL play.
