Hillsboro shuts out McClain Tigers

HILLSBORO — The season series sweep for the Highland County rivalry between the Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers belongs to the Indians.
Hillsboro on Thursday night defeated the visiting Tigers by a 5-0 score, capping off a two-game series for 2023 that saw HHS defeat their rival twice this season.
Earlier in the year, the Indians defeated McClain, 3-2 at McClain Field in Greenfield.
As for Thursday night, the Indians had goals scored by Cooper Swope, Isaac Brandyberry, Ryan Howland, Wesley Bailey and Tate Davis.
Bailey’s goal was assisted by Howland.
Hillsboro’s win moved them to 2-4-2 in the FAC and 6-5-4 overall. They fell to North Adams Saturday by a 3-2 score in non-conference play.
The Tigers are now 0-7-1 in the conference standings and 3-8-2 overall.
Next for HHS is a game against the Peebles Indians on Monday, Oct. 9 at home at 5 p.m.
For McClain, their next game is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9 at home against Fairfield at 7 p.m. From there, they have a regular-season game scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11 against Westfall at 7 p.m. at home.
