West Chester man sentenced to prison for violent home invasion
Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell announced recently that Adam Lee Ellington, 35, of West Chester, was sentenced to an indefinite term of 17 to 21-1⁄2 years in prison by Judge Timothy Tepe.
Ellington previously entered guilty pleas to aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, attempted felonious assault and criminal damaging.
On Aug. 29, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the victim, a 60-year-old female, was at her home getting ready for work. Ellington, who was not previously familiar with the victim, was out walking around the area, under the influence after ingesting THC edibles.
When Ellington saw the light on in the victim’s home, he began yelling for her to let him in and broke through the locked door. Ellington, who was six feet tall and over 300 lbs., immediately began attacking the victim. He repeatedly struck her in the face and kept asking her where her daughter was located. The victim, who did not have a daughter, told Ellington that she was alone and did not have a daughter.
Ellington then began striking the victim again, asking her where her gun was located because he was going to kill her. Ellington continued to assault the victim and asked her where her safe was located. The victim, demonstrating incredible bravery and quick thinking, told him it was outside.
When Ellington went outside to recover the safe, the victim ran into her bedroom to call the police. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located Ellington nearby.
At the time of this offense, Ellington was a registered sex offender for felony convictions in federal court related to the possession of child pornography.
Fornshell commended Detective Sara Vaught from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Steve Knippen and Gray Chester, and Victim Witness Coordinator Erika Bourelle, for their work on the case.
