A severe thunderstorm caused property damages and power outages in Hillsboro early Thursday morning.
The Hillsboro Police Department reported at least three trees were uprooted or downed by strong winds.
At 2:02 a.m., a tree fell in 200 block of East Pleasant Street. An officer with the HPD removed the tree from the roadway.
At 2:43 a.m.,another tree fell in the 700 block of North West Street, near Highland Terrace. The Hillsboro Street Department was called to remove the debris. The tree was moved with a front-end loader and the street was re-opened at 3:24 a.m.
Also, at 3:17 a.m., the HPD was called to the 300 block of North High Street, after an alarm company advised of a power outage. The HPD said an officer also noticed power outages near Willow Street and located a downed utility line near Liberty Bank. A large tree had fallen at 349 N. High St.
AEP was contacted and remained on the scene early Thursday.
Deadly tornadoes and thunderstorms tore through the South Wednesday evening, killing more than 175 people in five states, ABC News reported.
Tuscaloosa, Alabama was devastated with more than 30 killed in the storms.
Storm-related deaths also were reported in Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.
