Scioto County Sheriff's Office, Press Release

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman reports that on Saturday, Feb. 17 at approximately 1:45 p.m., a female called requesting a deputy stand by while she retrieved items from her residence in South Webster.

The caller advised that she wanted the deputy to stand by because she and her ex-boyfriend were allegedly involved in a disturbance the night before in Jackson County. At 1:59 p.m., the 911 communication center received another call from the female alleging that her ex-boyfriend had just shot her dad.

Deputies had the suspect detained at 2:02 p.m. and advised that it was safe for EMS to respond to the residence at 2:03 p.m.

Arrested was John Moore, 36, of South Webster. Moore has been charged with attempted murder, a felony of the first degree, and felonious assault, a felony of the second degree.

Moore is being held without bond on the attempted murder charge and has a $20,000 bond on the felonious assault charge.

The victim was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center, then flown to Grant Trauma Center in Columbus for treatment.

Sheriff Thoroughman stated that this is an ongoing investigation that may result in more charges being presented at the Scioto County grand jury on a later date.
