Office of Rep. Bob Peterson, Press Release

Rep. Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) Monday announced nearly $20 million will be awarded to Highland, Pike and Ross counties for the improvement of children's health services.

As part of the new Appalachian Children's Health Initiative, the funding will be used to support the creation or expansion of community- and school-based health clinics, the launch of healthcare-focused workforce development programs and more.

“Today marks a huge step forward in our continued efforts to improve student’s academic outcomes and bring more accessibility to healthcare resources to those living in Ohio’s Appalachian region,” said Peterson. “I am proud of the changes we’re making that will improve our area for generations to come.”

A total of $64 million across 20 Appalachian counties will fund 28 projects that are expected to impact 61,000 students and 375,000 residents. Expanded services will include comprehensive primary care, dental, vision and mental health services for children, families and communities.

Project recipients in Peterson’s House District can be found here

Funding for the Appalachian Children's Health Initiative is made possible by the Appalachian Community Grant Program, which is investing $500 million into Ohio's 32-county Appalachian region.

State Representative Bob Peterson is serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 91st Ohio House district, serving residents in all of Fayette, Highland and Pike counties and western Ross County.
