OVI sobriety checkpoint planned in Clermont County Friday

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday that Troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint in Clermont County Friday evening, Aug. 23.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

Based on provisional data, there have been over 250 OVI-related crashes this year on Ohio roadways.

Lieutenant Dexter Howard, Commander of the Batavia Post said, “State Troopers have made over 9,400 OVI arrests this year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday, Aug. 23.
