Ohio State plans tuition hike

Ohio State University has proposed 3.3-percent increase in tuition and related fees, beginning with fall 2011 classes.
University officials plan to ask trustees on Friday for an increase in tuition for in-state undergraduates on its main campus by $315 next year, to $9,309, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Students at Ohio University will have to pay an additional 3.5 percent, the largest increase allowed by the proposed state budget.
Changes proposed by the Ohio Senate for the biennial budget included a cap on tuition increases at $200 for community and technical colleges, but allowed a 3.5-percent increase for state universities.
Not all colleges are planning an increase.
Prior to the Senate changes, Southern State Community College, which serves Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette and Highland counties, announced earlier this month that it will not be seeking a tuition increase.[[In-content Ad]]
