Ohio State Highway Patrol OVI checkpoint in Butler County Aug. 15

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Butler County tomorrow night.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grants, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

So far this year, there have been 5,369 OVI-related crashes in which 189 people were killed and 2,140 people injured in Ohio. Lieutenant Christina Hayes, commander of the Hamilton Post said, “State Trooper have made 8,610 OVI arrests this year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers.” “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

The location of the checkpoint will be announced on Friday, Aug. 15.
