Ohio Senate passes Johnson resolution urging investments to protect electric grid
COLUMBUS—The Ohio Senate passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 2, sponsored by Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott), to urge Congress to invest into the security and reliability of the electric grid.
"Anything that compromises the security of America's electrical grid constitutes a grave threat to our national security and the health and well being of our citizens and, indeed to our freedom and way of life," said Senator Johnson.
"The United States also must return to manufacturing our electrical grid components domestically since we have exported large component manufacturing such as transformers to foreign nations, including our primary foreign adversary, communist China. We need to take preventative measures now to ensure that our power grid is protected and secure," concluded the senator.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 urges Ohio electric utility stakeholders, Governor DeWine, and Congress to invest resources into the security, reliability, and resiliency of the state and national interconnected electric grids against natural and man-made threats.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 now heads to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
