Ohio National Guard sustainment brigade headquarters, signal company to deploy

Over 280 members of the Ohio Army National Guard’s Headquarters and Special Troops Battalion, 371st Sustainment Brigade, and the 137th Signal Company, both located in Springfield, are deploying in support of U.S. Central Command.

The public is invited to attend a call to duty ceremony to honor the deploying soldiers Thursday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 3638 Middle Urbana Road, Springfield 45502.

While deployed, the 371st will execute mission command of theater distribution and expeditionary sustainment across the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR), to provide freedom of action, extended operational reach and prolonged endurance in support of unified land operations conducted by U.S. forces, their allies and partners.

The 137th Signal Company will provide communications support to sustainment units across the CENTCOM AOR including networking, satellite and telecommunications and radio communications.

This is the third rotational deployment for the 371st in the role of theater sustainment brigade support and primary logistics manager, following 2013-2014 and 2017-2018 tours. The unit also deployed as the 371st Corps Support Group under Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003-2004.

The 137th has been previously mobilized in support of the 2009 presidential inauguration, as well as disaster relief support following Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana (2008) and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico (2017).
