New projects expected to create 209 new jobs, $13.4M in payroll statewide

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted Monday announced the approval of assistance for four projects set to create 209 new jobs and retain 356 jobs statewide.

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $13.4 million in new payroll and spur more than $55.6 million in investments across Ohio.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

CENTRAL

Middle West Spirits LLC, Columbus (Franklin County), expects to create 80 full-time positions, generating more than $4.7 million in new annual payroll and retaining more than $3 million in existing payroll, as a result of its expansion project in Columbus. Middle West Spirits is central Ohio’s first craft micro-distillery and produces a variety of artisan spirits, including vodka and bourbon. The TCA approved a 1.423-percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NORTHEAST

MAC Trailer Enterprises Inc., Smith Township (Mahoning County), expects to create 80 full-time positions, generating $4 million in new annual payroll and retaining $4.5 million in existing payroll, as a result of its expansion project in Smith Township. This expansion will allow MAC Trailer to increase output of both frameless and framed dump trailers. The TCA approved a 1.339-percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

SOUTHWEST

Berkley Insurance Company, West Chester Township (Butler County), expects to create 29 full-time positions, generating more than $3 million in new annual payroll and retaining more than $2.4 million in existing payroll, as a result of its expansion project in West Chester Township. Berkley Insurance Company is a Fortune 500 company that underwrites property and casualty commercial insurance, specializing in commercial excess and surplus lines across the U.S. The TCA approved a 1.624-percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Cincinnati Test Systems Inc., Harrison (Hamilton County), expects to create 20 full-time positions, generating $1.7 million in new annual payroll and retaining $17 million in existing payroll, as a result of its expansion project in Harrison. Cincinnati Test Systems manufactures leak test machines for every industry, from medical to automotive, defense to aerospace and beyond, specifically providing pressure decay, vacuum decay, mass flow, helium leak and other leak detection equipment. The TCA approved a 1.376-percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
