Muskingum County rapist sentenced to life in prison

On June 15, Adam Kennedy, 33, of Roseville appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill in the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas to be sentenced for raping and sexually assaulting multiple young children.

Kennedy admitted guilt to the following: pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition and importuning.

The charges involved two separate cases in which three child victims were identified following tips and disclosures. His victims were as young as 5 years old. 

In case CR2026-0154 for the charges of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, rape (victim less than 10), and gross sexual imposition, the law requires a mandatory life sentence for the rape charge. Judge Cottrill sentenced Kennedy to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 23 years. 

In case CR2026-0230 for the charges of importuning and gross sexual imposition, Judge Cottrill sentenced Kennedy to a total of 60 months in prison, 30 months for each of the child victims.

Judge Cottrill ordered that the sentences in each case be served consecutively to one another resulting in a total combined prison sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years. Kennedy was also ordered to register as a tier III sex offender.

“While our hope is that this child molester never breathes free air again, he must serve a minimum of 28 years before he can even be considered for parole,” said Prosecutor Welch. “This sentence allows our community to be free of this defendant for nearly three decades and that is a good result.”
