Lebanon Post investigating single-vehicle fatal crash involving railroad crossing

The Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Wednesday, April 26 at approximately 4:59 p.m.

The crash occurred at an intersection of a level railway crossing on Lower Carlisle Road, just east of Beachler Road, in Carlisle, Warren County.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1996 Plymouth Voyager, operated by G. Cole, 96, Carlisle, was traveling west on Lower Carlisle Road. The Plymouth traveled across the level crossing and off the left side of the roadway, striking the railroad gate crossing guard.

Cole succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Cole was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Carlisle Police Department, Franklin Township EMS, Joint Emergency Medical Services (J.E.M.S.), Warren County Coroner’s Office, Norfolk Southern and Case Towing.
