Johnson announces millions for revitalization efforts

By
Office of State Senator Terry Johnson, Press Release

State Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) announced the investment of more than $7 million for economic development projects in southern Ohio.

"Our communities are consistently trying to improve, and this funding will help them take dilapidated properties and turn them into the next small business, family home or other amazing development," Johnson said. "I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these projects."

Clermont County will receive $4,429,569 for the demolition and revitalization of 42 sites, and Adams County will receive $1,049,792 for similar work at 24 sites. This funding comes from the Demolition and Site Revitalization program, which has awarded more than $270 million in grants to support more than 5,000 demolition projects in every county in the state.

Additionally, three projects will receive awards from the Brownfield Remediation program, which aims to help communities clean up and redevelop hazardous sites.

These recipients include:

• Brown County Land Reutilization Corporation: Former Higginsport School, $696,000

• Adams County Land Reutilization Corporation: Manchester Bi-Lo project, $502,410

• Adams County Land Reutilization Corporation: Manchester Pants Factory project, $497,450.

Both grant programs were allocated funds through House Bill 33, the state's main operating budget, which Senator Johnson supported.

Senator Johnson represents the 14th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses all of Adams, Brown, Clermont and Scioto counties. Learn more at www.OhioSenate.gov.
