Hunter education course announced

The Highland County Coon Hunters Club and the Ohio Division of Wildlife are sponsoring a Hunter Education Course on Aug. 16, 17 and 21st at the Coon Hunters Clubhouse on Carper Lane.

The times are 6-9 p.m. on the 16th and 17th and 1-6 p.m. on the 21st. Students age 10 and under must attend with an adult.

The course covers not only gun safety, but also firearms, ammunition, hunter ethics, first aid, archery, field care of game, habitat and many other subjects essential to being a hunter and outdoorsman. The course ends with a 100 question test which must be passed with a score of 80% or better.  

There is no fee for the course and students must attend all three sessions. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-800-WILDLIFE.
