The following crashes and offenses occurred on Thursday, July 7.
At 9:45 a.m., it was reported that someone had tampered with equipment at the City of Hillsboro Sewage Treatment Plant sometime the previous night.
At 9:56 a.m, a 40-year-old E. Walnut Street woman reported that she had been assaulted by a male subject. The incident remains under investigation.
At 2:58 p.m., a two-vehicle property damage crash was reported in the 100 block of West Main Street. A vehicle operated by Mary B. Sonner, 31, of Hillsboro was westbound on West Main Street and started to enter the intersection with West Street. However, the driver of Unit #1 noticed that the traffic light had turned red and then tried to back up. The rear of the Sonner vehicle struck the front of a vehicle operated by Mindi D. Wooton, 36, of Hillsboro, causing non-functional damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries reported. Sonner was cited for improper backing.
At 4:25 p.m., a two-vehicle injury crash was reported on State Route 73 at the entrance to Lowe's. A vehicle operated by William D. Dohner, 77, of West Milton pulled from the driveway at the Lowe's store onto State Route 73 into the bath of a northbound vehicle operated by Jessica L. Miles of Hillsboro. There was non-functional damage to the Dohner vehicle and disabling damage to the Miles vehicle. Miles claimed injury and was treated at the scene by Hillsboro Fire and Rescue. Dohner was charged with failure to yield at a through highway.[[In-content Ad]]
