Hamilton Post investigating 3-vehicle crash involving US Army Military Humvee on Interstate 75
The Hamilton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle serious injury crash. The crash occurred Wednesday, April 10, at 11:08 a.m., on southbound Interstate 75 near mile post 18 in West Chester Township, Butler County.
The preliminary investigation revealed a U.S. Army military vehicle (Humvee), operated by Nariya Crayton, 21, of Reynoldsburg; a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer combination, operated by Jay Shope, 46, of Forest; and a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer combination, operated by Michael Wright, 64, of Cincinnati, were traveling south on Interstate 75 near mile post 18. The Humvee and the Freightliner were both initially in the right exit lane to Interstate 275 west. The Peterbilt was traveling in the right middle lane.
The Humvee made a lane change into the right middle lane and then back into the right exit lane. While changing lanes back into the exit lane, the Humvee allegedly struck the side of the Freightliner. After striking the Freightliner, the Humvee traveled back into the right middle lane, allegedly striking the Peterbilt. After allegedly striking the Peterbilt, the Humvee traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturning into a nearby tree line.
One of the three Humvee occupants, a passenger — Hasan Khan, 41, of Dayton — was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by ground ambulance to University of Cincinnati – Main Campus with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Crayton and her other passenger, Timothy Wiemer, 21, Toledo, were transported by ground ambulance to University of Cincinnati – Main Campus with minor injuries.
Shope and Wright were not injured as a result of the crash.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the West Chester Police Department, West Chester Fire Department & EMS, Sharonville Police Department, Sharonville Fire Department & EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton Post.
