Flood warnings in effect

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for numerous areas of southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.

The following counties in Ohio are included in the warning: Adams, Auglaize, Brown, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Highland, Hocking, Licking, Logan, Madison, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Scioto, Shelby, Union and Warren.

The warning is in effect Friday through Sunday morning. Soils remain moist and excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will occur into the weekend with the heaviest rain expected Saturday into Saturday night.

People in the watch area, especially those living in areas prone to flooding, should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.

Tonight – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 56. East wind 8 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 71. Southwest wind 14 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 42. North wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Sunday – Showers. High near 46. Northeast wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night – Rain showers likely, possibly mixing with snow after 11pm, then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.

Monday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.

Tuesday – Sunny, with a high near 44.

Tuesday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.
