Construction slated to begin on S.R. 286, 763

Construction will get under way next week on state routes 286 and 763 in Brown County as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation mobilize crews and prepare for the closure of both routes.
“We realize the impact closing any route has on the traveling public; however, closure of these routes is safer for crews and necessary to mitigate construction. In addition, their closure serves to expedite the projects over the summer months,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson.
On Monday, June 6, crews from DGM, Inc. will close S.R. 286 to undertake a bridge repair project at the route’s 3.42-mile marker, immediately east of County Road 104 (Upper Five Mile West Road). DGM was awarded a contract for approximately $284,110 to repair the structure, and throughout construction, traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 68 and U.S. 50.
In a separate project, the Alan Stone Company was awarded a $429,993 contract to construct a retaining wall along S.R. 763. Brown-763 will be closed between S.R. 41 and C.R. 31 (Martin Hill Road) on Monday, June 6, and during construction, traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 41, U.S. 52, T.R. 307 (Flaugher Hill Road) and Martin Hill Road.
The scheduled completion date for construction on S.R. 286 is August 31, while the completion date for the S.R. 763 project is September 15.
In addition to these closures, S.R. 123 and S.R. 131 in Brown County will also be closed next Monday.
S.R. 123 will be closed between C.R. 46 (Glady Road) and T.R. 103 (Schefsky Road) for a bridge replacement, while S.R. 131 will be closed at the 3.28-mile marker, approximately two miles east of U.S. 50 and just west of U.S. 68, for a deck replacement.
S.R. 123 traffic will be via U.S. 68 and S.R. 28 in Clinton County, and S.R. 131 traffic will be detoured via U.S. 50 and U.S. 68. Both projects have an August 31 completion date.
