Batavia Township man charged with felonious assault after allegedly stabbing another man

On Jan. 4 at 1:48 a.m., the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman requesting deputies and EMS to respond to a residence on Court Yard Lane in Batavia Township. Deputies from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and Central Joint Fire and EMS responded and arrived at 1:52 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject lying in a parking lot, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and chest. The victim, identified as a 32-year-old man from Batavia Township, alleged that Anthony Rooks was the person responsible for stabbing him. 

Central Joint Fire and EMS transported the victim to Batavia Township Community Center to be flown by Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further treatment. The victim underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.

Rooks was located on scene and taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies without incident. 

Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit responded to process the scene and interview the involved parties.  

Rooks was transported to the Clermont County Jail and has been charged with one count of felonious assault, a felony of the second degree, and one count of tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree. This investigation will be reviewed in its entirety with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to a grand jury for consideration of additional charges.
