1 arrested through Clermont County OVI sobriety checkpoint

On Aug. 23, the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Union Township Police Department, held an OVI Checkpoint between the hours of 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on state Route 125 near Bach Buxton Road in Pierce Township, Clermont County. Additional assistance was also provided by the Ohio Department of Transportation.   

During the operation of the checkpoint, a total of 500 vehicles were checked. The driver of one of those vehicles was diverted to the testing area for suspicion of OVI. That individual was administered field sobriety testing, determined to be under the influence and placed under arrest for OVI.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds drivers that if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
