Fairfield loses to Fayetteville; rebounds with win at Clinton-Massie

Lady Lions fall to Fayetteville 

Tuesday evening the Fairfield Lady Lions traveled to Brown Country to face the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, where they lost the Southern Hills Athletic Conference game by a 65-15 score. 

The loss to the Lady Rockets saw Fairfield score four points in the first frame, followed by three points in the second, five points in the third and three points in the fourth quarter. Fayetteville scored 11 points in the first frame, followed by quarter scoring that included 22 points in the second, 16 points in the third and another 16-point quarter in the fourth frame. 

Fairfield was led by Rilee Quickle with 11 points, as she also had three rebounds and three steals. Meri Jackson followed with two points, six rebounds and one assist. Vivian Henninger totaled one point, three rebounds and one assist. Addison Cannon also had one point, plus three rebounds. FHS also saw Isabelle Hale total three rebounds and one steal. 

Fairfield’s Jaeden Drury totaled one rebound and one steal, while teammate Landyn Hodson finished with two rebounds. Brya Fauber ended the game with two rebounds. 

As a team, the Lady Lions totaled 23 rebounds, one assist, six steals and had 30 turnovers. 

Fayetteville was led by Lindi Carlier with 23 points, followed by Cara Rummel with 11 points. The Lady Rockets also had the following final scoring totals: Aubrey Barber (7), Lilly Carlier (4), Tegan Combs (6), Scarlett Crawford (4), Sadie Moore (2), Christina Murphy (3) and Autumn Watson (5). 

As a team, Fayetteville totaled 22 rebounds, 15 assists, 18 steals and five blocks and they had nine turnovers.

Fairfield takes home win over Clinton-Massie
 

A non-conference game for the Fairfield Lady Lions to start the week saw the ladies from Leesburg travel to Clinton County and defeat the host Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons by a 48-34 score Monday at CMHS. 

Fairfield led 11-10 after the first quarter, and they won the second frame at 10-4 for a 21-15 halftime lead. In the third, again, the Lady Lions kept their advantage, outscoring CMHS 10-8 for a 31-22 lead after three frames. In the fourth quarter, FHS outscored Clinton-Massie 17-12 for the 14-point win. 

The Lady Lions were led in the scoring column by Meri Jackson with 13 points, as she was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line. Jackson also added 13 rebounds (10 offensive) for a double-double, plus one assist and one steal. 

Brya Fauber totaled nine points with one 3-pointer, plus she had two rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block. 

Jaeden Drury ended the game with seven points, as she made two 3-pointers and she was 1-of-3 from the free-throw line, while also adding one rebound and two steals to her final totals. Vivian Henninger collected six points, five rebounds and five assists. 

The Lady Lions also saw Isabelle Hale total four points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Addison Cannon finished with four points, one rebound and one assist. Landyn Hodson finished the win with three points, as she made a 3-pointer. FHS also had Paisley Stahlhut score two points and have one rebound. 

Team totals for Fairfield included 34 rebounds (20 offensive), 11 assists, 16 steals and one block, plus they finished with 19 turnovers. 

The win leaves Fairfield with an overall record of 2-1 with a SHAC mark of 0-1 on the season. 

Next for the Lady Lions is an away game on Thursday, Dec. 4 at Manchester in SHAC play.
