As co-advisers of our school's Hope Squad, Kari Terrell and I have had the immense privilege of working with an extraordinary group of students dedicated to supporting their peers and advocating for mental health awareness.
Over the past four years, we’ve watched our squad grow from just 10 members to 20 – a reflection of the powerful leadership and example these young people set every day.
Hope Squad is more than just a peer support program. It’s a movement of empathy and action, where students are trained to recognize signs of emotional distress and connect their classmates with help and hope. These students are role models of compassion, courage and kindness. They consistently show up for others – not for recognition, but because they care deeply about the well-being of their peers.
It is because of their leadership, dedication and authenticity that we are able to continue this vital work. Their presence has made our school a more connected, supportive and safe place for everyone.
We are incredibly honored to support and stand alongside them.
