10 goals lead Fairfield to win over Ripley
Going on the road for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference on Wednesday night (Aug. 23), the Fairfield Lions boys soccer team defeated the Ripley Blue Jays by eight goals with a 10-2 victory.
The convincing win by the Lions included two hat tricks for the away team, as junior Zane Matthews and junior Logan McIntosh each netted three goals in the win.
Senior Grant Baker had two goals for the Lions, while senior JD Duncan and senior Larkin Friend each scored a goal.
Friend also collected two assists, while having one assist each were Baker, junior Dane Hodson and McIntosh.
In all, the Lions took 31 shots, and 19 shots on goal.
Junior keeper Carson Jenkins finished with eight saves in the SHAC win.
The Lions are now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SHAC.
Next for Fairfield is a home game on Thursday, Aug. 24 against a non-conference opponent, the Miami Trace Panthers, at 6:45 p.m.
