    The Highland County Thunder played their first home game of the season at Shaffer Park on Sunday (June 27) against the Lakota Chargers of Cincinnati, defeating the Chargers 11-10.

  • Feathers are being ruffled at C-M
    Coach McSurley is 81-15 since 2002 (111-46 overall) at the helm of the Falcons, not to mention he has led his team to not one or two playoff appearances, but eight straight trips since 2002. If McSurley isn't brought back as the Massie football coach, it will not only be a blow to the Falcon football program, but it will be a blow to the South Central Ohio League as well.

    Mike Doyle was beginning his fourth year as head football coach at Hillsboro High School as the 1976 season began Sept. 10. In his previous three years at the helm, Doyle had recorded eight wins and 22 losses, overall. His SCOL record was 4-15.

  • 2010 Highland County Basketball Shootout Schedule
    The annual Highland County Shootout (boys varsity basketball) will be held on Saturday, June 26 at Hillsboro High School. The first game is in the Hillsboro High School gym, second game listed will be played in the Hillsboro Middle School gym.

    The Ohio High School Athletic Association will welcome 14 officials to the OHSAA’s Officials Hall of Fame during its Hall of Fame Enshrinement and Banquet Saturday, June 19 at Huntington Park in Columbus. It is the 22nd class to be recognized for its outstanding accomplishments and service as officials in a variety of interscholastic sports across the state of Ohio.

Hillsboro's Tim Fuller (19.6) and Rick Seeling (18.7) were second and third, followed by Harvey of McClain (17.3) and Moore of Circleville (16.9).

    Prior to the beginning of the 1975-76 SCOL basketball season, it was announced that veteran football coach Maurice “Mo” Pfeifer had submitted his resignation to the Washington C.H. board of education. Pfeifer had been the brains behind the success of the Washington football program for 11 years. He had built a record of 68-37-5.

    Dusty Wright is just like hundreds of youngsters who spend their summer playing baseball at Shaffer Park. He runs bases, adjusts his baseball cap and swings the bat each time he sets foot in the batter’s box. But one thing sets Dusty apart from other kids who play baseball in the summer. Like Pete Wyshner (Pete Gray) and Jim Abbott before him, this 12-year-old first baseman plays the game of baseball with just one hand. But not for a moment does he let that be an obstacle or a setback to his athletic goals and dreams.
