Where are the jobs?

To the editor:

I ran across an interesting article at cincinnati.com titled "Construction halted on Cincinnati, Cleveland casinos."

Why are they stopping construction?

Because of the "Jobs Budget."

The Ohio House of Representatives included a rule in that budget that could mean a much larger  as much a 10 times larger  tax bill for casinos. So the construction is on hold for the foreseeable future.

I'm not sure, but I kind of remember that those casinos, the tax rates they would pay and where the tax money would go were part of a constitutional amendment passed by "we the people."

I thought our governor was promising to bring more jobs to Ohio, but from what I've seen so far, he is just driving jobs away every day. Maybe he and his buddies are not getting enough in kickbacks or construction contracts?

The "Jobs Budget?"

All I've seen in response to this budget are layoffs, the end of overtime and scale wages, giveaways to campaign contributors and harassment of teachers, police and firefighters.

Where are the jobs?

Sincerely,
John Tallieu
