When we fail to learn from history

To the editor:
It doesn't appear we learned our lesson so history is repeating itself.
Fact: FDR prolonged the Great Depression and Obama is prolonging this mess.
We can't call it a recession anymore, so shall we say Depression?
A few more facts: A $500 million GM plant is being built in Mexico. We have stimulus money to build solar panels and batteries for electric cars overseas.
In his great speech in North Carolina this week, the president said stimulus money given to the very company where 50 percent of its employees are overseas to make the wonderful mercury filled light bulbs we will all be using.
GE closed down its light bulb line and moved it overseas. This company has cost millions of union paying jobs and its CEO is Obama's jobs czar
Union leader Andy Stern retired, went overseas to stir up trouble over there and boy did he do his job on your union dues. Union members should be going after their union leaders who they are paying six figures to serve them, but like politicians they don't listen to their boss, which are its members.
FDR told unions not to get into the public job market because members could not negotiate directly with the taxpayer and the private sector could not afford to support unions. Well, the unions didn't listen and look what happened.
Even here in Hillsboro the east side of High Street can't get sidewalks, potholes or even get anything done, because they have no money.
In Arizona, there are signssaying beware of illegal drug traffic? How would you like that sign on your property?
In Congress, they were trying to get to the bottom of why our government sold guns to Mexican drug dealers.
People wanting the rich to pay more in taxes? They pay enough already; while 54 percent of Americans pay no state or federal taxes.
I want to help our elderly; they helped me and now it's my turn to repay. But I do not want to pay union pay, pension, healthcare or anything else to do with the union. I pay enough in taxes.
There are school taxes from all forms of our government. What happen to the lottery? That was supposed to go to the schools or so it was said.
Since school is out for the summer, everyone should get some history lessons. If you don't have a computer, go to your library.
God bless us all. We need God now more than ever.
Sincerely,
Lynn Myers
