To the editor:

We are less than four months away from the 10th anniversary of the gruesome terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

For the past two years on the anniversary day of this tragic event, we have held a memorial prayer rally to honor those lost that day and to pray for the families affected as well as to pray for a spiritual awakening in our county, state and nation.

This year's event is special in that in marks the 10th anniversary of 9-11-01 and this milestone will bring even more remembrance of that day, those affected either by knowing someone there in New York, Washington, D.C. or Pennsylvania, or just those of us who watched events unfold on TV or listened on the radio at work while these terrible things happened to our nation.

I remember feeling numb listening to it all on WLW radio. It was such a shock and I remember praying and praying a lot that day, for those people trapped in the buildings in New York and those in the Pentagon as well as on the plane above Pennsylvania.

I prayed that God would deliver us as a nation, that day I felt a kinship to each and every American, we were one, for that day at least and the few months afterward, but today, 10 years later, we are back to our old ways again, like the event never happened. Back to being divided by everything under the sun, when we should be united under the maker of everything under.......and above the sun...... The Triune God.

This year, in less than four months, we will gather at the county courthouse in Hillsboro. We will honor those affected that day, we will pray together for a better future.  This will be the third year in a row Highland County has participated in this national event.

Every county in every state will gather at noon on this day to pray. So far out of the 88 counties that make up Ohio, only 14 are currently scheduled to hold a rally this Sept. 11th.  In southwest Ohio, only Highland county is scheduled, no surrounding counties have a county co-ordinator as of yet.

No one has stepped up in Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette, Pike or Ross counties. I am asking anyone who lives in any of these counties surrounding Highland or if you know anyone in any of these counties, to please speak to them about volunteering to organize a rally.  If this sort of thing is new to you or if it seems like more hassle than it is worth or if you do not know the first thing about organizing a rally, please contact me, I will help you with anything you need in setting up a prayer rally for Sept. 11th in a neighboring county.

If you are interested in helping out at the rally or the the preparation of this years event or if you wish to start up a rally in a near by county, go to www.awakeningamerica.us/

You can also email me as well.  shanecmontgomery@excite.com your Highland County coordinator for any info you might have. I would like to make one last plea to the people of Highland county and the neighboring counties, please consider making it out to the courthouse at noon on the 10th anniversary of this most tragic event in our history.  And in the days leading up to this anniversary,  remember back to that day, how we were all united, we cared for each other, we loved each other, lets live like that again.

Let's live like every day is precious and every person is precious, because they are! May God keep you and bless you in the days ahead.

Sincerely,
Shane C. Montgomery,
Highland County
coordinator, Cry Out America!
