Stop unwanted political phone calls

To the editor:

This is an open letter to political candidates:

Your success at persuading me to vote for you will hinge in part on your willingness to leave me alone. I do not welcome automated calls advertising your wonderful ideas or the bad things you claim your opponent has done or thinks.

I especially resent getting these uninvited calls in the evening or on the weekend, interrupting my time with family members. Your calls do not give me the option of talking to a real person or hitting a button to opt out of future calls.

Believe it or not, I am capable of following the political issues and making informed decisions without the invaluable assistance of your phone commercials.

I do not mind campaign literature sent to me in the mail, however. I can throw those away at my leisure or use them to start a fire in my fireplace.

As one of your potential, future bosses, I trust you will value my opinion on what constitutes considerate phone conduct. I do not call your home uninvited with commercials, so please don't think you're that important to have some machine call me uninvited.

Sincerely,
Jon Davidson
