New Market resident Jean Fawley has started an online business that sells window stickers that are a safety reminder for parents and pet owners. Her website, CheckOnus.Org, provides information to be used as a safety tool to protect children and pets.

A few spaces are still available for the Aug. 7-13 annual C.A.M.P., which is held at the Tar Hollow Resident Camping area in the Hocking Hills. This is the 56th such summer program, which was originated in 1956 by Dave and Janny Brizius.

Phyllis Miller was hostess of the July meeting of the New Petersburg Social Civic Club at the Rainsboro Methodist Church. Sixteen members answered roll call by using the first letter of their name and giving the name of a first lady with the same first letter.

The 4-H Advisory Committee will hold a benefit spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 5-7 p.m. in the Wharton Building on the Highland County Fairgrounds. The menu will be spaghetti, garlic bread, slaw and drinks for a donation for $5. Desserts will be available for an additional donation.

Our Summer Reading Program is going great! We have 318 signed up - enjoying a great summer read and hopefully winning some great prizes. Library camp has been exciting as well - with a grand total of 375 attending. We will be drawing for grand prizes on August 1.

The 11th annual Pike Lake State Park Railroad Rendezvous will be held Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. Exhibitors will bring collections of railroad memorabilia, photos, models and memories pertaining to the DT&I, N&W, B&O, C&O and other railroads that influenced the economy and society of southern Ohio.

The Highland County Senior Citizens Center Board of Directors will meet at the center on July 14 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
