I sold my soul to the company store

Apologies to Tennessee Ernie Ford and Merle Travis, may they rest in peace.

Mr. Ford’s mid-1950s hit – written by Mr. Travis – describes a coal miner, with no other options available, working in a coal mine. Today, the Left and the climate change crowd wants to shut down the coal mines completely. It is a “Chicken Little” attitude.

But about half the country today is willing to sell their souls to the federal government to get more “free” cash to chase the baubles they want (see my previous columns). The allure of free stuff has left (pun intended) them devoid of rationality and dignity.

The Left’s leadership whose greatest desire is power (they couldn’t care less about real people’s needs), is more than happy to comply.

Try to get inside Kamala Harris’s head for a minute. Here is a person close to grabbing the brass ring, who has never done anything in her life – never won a primary and never won a national election on her own. She will say anything, promise you anything to get your vote, for she knows on Nov. 6 (the day after the general election) she will not be held accountable.

Alongside her and just behind her are plenty of other Washington power-brokers just wanting a piece of that power. Then there are those standing in the wings, pulling her strings, the real power-brokers in Washington.  

The Democrats learned their lesson in 2016 when Trump beat Clinton. They couldn’t believe that could happen. They have worked to made sure since then it won’t happen again.  

They have let in 10 million disqualified “voters” to stuff the ballot boxes. They have prosecuted Trump on the flimsiest of charges, charges unprecedented against anyone in our history. They have persecuted, prosecuted and jailed people for going into the Peoples’ House on Jan. 6, 2021.

They even managed to get a worn-out pensioner elected president, just to keep the power on their side of the political spectrum.

It is the perfect match: the gullible wanting “free” cash, and the power hungry with the power to give it to them.

It is how they have won the abortion argument with a lie – treat the fetus as a “thing,” not a human. For if you treat it as a human, their argument is lost.  

If you can’t see what they have done, right out in the open, perhaps our republic deserves to die.

Our country is nearer to becoming Venezuela than most realize. It will take an overwhelming vote from the Right to overcome another rigged election, for the Left will stop at nothing, just like Lenin and Mao.

If this happens, a year from now the First and Second Amendments are dead, and the Supreme Court will have been put out of business.
