Hillsboro Police Report

On Tuesday, Aug. 21 at approximately 9 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department initiated an investigation of a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of West North Street. Ernie Haskill, 31, of Hillsboro was arrested for existing warrants at that location. Information obtained from the investigation led officers to the 700 block of North West Street in Hillsboro. Officers were attempting to locate another wanted person who had warrants related to illicit drug activity. While at the residence, officers detected an odor consistent with the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. Officers conducted a search of the premises. Several drug-related items as well as items showing that the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine was taking place at the residence were collected as evidence. Items will be sent to BCI for analysis, and reports will be forwarded to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins for review and further charges.

On Aug. 23, Donna Throckmorton of Hillsboro, driving a 2003 Chrysler, was attempting to back from a parking space in the 100 block of West Main Street and struck a 2010 Chevrolet that was stopped in traffic and driven by Daniel Harning of Mt. Orab. Minor damage was received by both vehicles.

On Friday, Aug. 24, Barbara Smyth of New Britain, Conn., driving a 2001 Buick, was traveling eastbound on Harry Sauner Road and failed to stop for a 2009 Cadillac that was stopped in traffic and was driven by David McKenna of Hillsboro. Smyth struck the McKenna vehicle, doing light damage. Smyth was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

Makenna Tharp of Hillsboro reported her 2004 Pontiac was parked in a parking space at her residence and someone pulled out of a parking space, striking her vehicle and doing light damage. The vehicle left the scene.

Rachel Williams of Hillsboro was traveling westbound in the parking lot, driving through the parking spaces at 1487 North High Street and pulled into the path of a 1994 Dodge that was being driven by Rodney Pence, Jr. doing damage.

Brandon Carter of Hillsboro, driving a 2006 Ford, was traveling north on South High Street and failed to maintain control and struck a 2006 Toyota that was driven by Madison Colliver of Hillsboro, pushing the Colliver vehicle into a 2005 Jeep that was driven by Jillian Eltzroth of Hillsboro. Carter was cited for assured clear distance ahead.[[In-content Ad]]
On Saturday, Aug. 25, the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of an accident on North High Street at Harry Sauner Road. It was found Bradley Clay, 18, of Leesburg was southbound on North High St., driving a 1997 Ford. He was unable to stop before striking a 2012 Jeep driven by Susan Freeman, 42, that was stopped for the red light at Harry Sauner Road in front of him. Clay was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

On Sunday, Aug. 26, Cecelia Comberger advised that in the past week, her lawn mower had been taken from the shed on her property.

Ernie Haskill, 31, of Hillsboro, was arrested on an existing warrant for theft from the Hillsboro Police Department and an existing bench warrant from the Hillsboro Municipal Court.

Anthony Wallace, 44, of Hillsboro, an existing bench warrant for failure to appear from Hillsboro Municipal Court.

Neil Bowen, 31, of Hillsboro, bench warrant and for driving under suspension.

Dewey Dixon, Jr., 32, of Mowrystown, bench warrant.

Paul Neanover, 26, of Wilmington, bench warrant.

Keith Haithcock of Hillsboro, driving under suspension.

Jesse Roades, 24, of Hillsboro, bench warrant.

Pamela Brian, 59, of Louisville, Ky., two warrants from Kentucky and warrant from Indiana.

Jeffery Kinzer of Bloomingburg, assured clear distance ahead.

Kenneth Brian, 29, of Shepherdsville, Ky., 10 warrants from Kentucky.
