Chris Dodds
Chris Dodds

A Greenfield playground project has been selected by the Sear Blue Tool Crew as a contest finalist. As such, Sears will be donating $3,000 in tools for the Greenfield project.
The project was proposed by McClain teacher Chris D odds, as part of the Unsung Heroes/Dads Making a Difference contest.
There is an online voting conrtest at
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/dap_10153_12605_DAP_unsung+heroes. The winner of the online vote will receive an additional $30,000 toward his project.
The following is written about Mr. Dodds: "My husband is an amazing father and example to his daughters. He is a shop teacher at McClain High School. In his 15 years as a teacher there, he has taught his students the importance of serving the community through projects that benefit others. He has done so many projects, but here are some examples that define the person that he is and encourages others to become. He has made benches for the local armory, a puppet theater for the local library, picnic tables for the football field and a shed for a house for Habitat for Humanity. He has also designed the informational sign for the front of our school. He wants to do a project for our local playground. He wants to refurbish the playground as it is becoming run down. The school elementary children play there and the community uses it. It is the only playground in our small town. It needs to be cleaned up(power washed), the treated woods need sanded and re-stained. Broken boards need cut and replaced. There is need for financial support of this project. We have had factories close here and a high number of citizens in our town are unemployed. People just don't have the funds to contribute though I am sure they would be willing to work on it, if there was a way to provide it."

The city needs and deserves to have nice things. The playground use to be something everyone was proud of. I was one of the children who was there when they first built it, and it needs some help now. Greenfield is lucky to have teachers like Mr. Dodds. Every year he shows his students how to actually get involved in things without just talking about it. If he is willing to help the city, then we need to do what we can to help.
Sorry for all the hard time in class Mr. Dodds.

Mr. Barr is right. Candidates from small towns are at a very distinct disadvantage - which should be no asurprise in a contest sponsored by a big retailer. Mr. Dodds was doing relatively well, or at least not so bad, when I voted but 5 or 10 thousand more votes would sure come in handy for him.

Chris is a great person. He is very ingenuitive and works on a major project almost every year. This project is very worthy. Everyone needs to vote and keep voting. Some of his competition comes from more populated areas. So he needs lots of votes now!
