The Highland County Rod and Gun Club will sponsor its annual Kids Trout Derby and Fun Shoot on Saturday, April 1 at the Rocky Fork State Park campground docks.

Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. The rain date is Sunday, April 2.



The event is open to children ages 15 and under. Co-sponsors of the event are the ODNR Division of Parks and Recreation and the ODNR Division of Wildlife, with special thanks to Friends of NRA Hillsboro chapter.

Shooting activities, including archery and shotgun, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All guns and ammunition are provided. Do not bring your own shotgun or ammo.

The trout fishing derby will be held from 1-4 p.m. and will include tagged money fish.

All activities are free, and random prizes will be given to the first 500 kids registered for the event. There will also be food and drinks available.
