    Having possibly their best hitting display of the season, the Fairfield Lady Lions are heating up at the plate as the regular season nears its final stages. In what was their fourth game in as many days, the Lady Lions ended the week with a a convincing 10-0 win Thursday night over the host Whiteoak Lady Wildcats.

    After finishing second in the 1960 Highland County Basketball Tournament, Buford drew Fayette County champion Bloomingburg as their first-round opponent in the tournament at Piketon. The Bulldogs stayed with Bloomingburg throughout the first quarter, moving ahead by a score of 8-4 at the end of the period.

    This time in their second meeting with the Fairfield Lions, it was the Whiteoak Wildcats who were able to have the big inning. In fact, the hosts had two innings where they scored three runs apiece, leading to a 7-2 victory Thursday night.

    The McClain varsity baseball team continued to play well again Tuesday night despite losing 6-3 to Clinton-Massie, who is state-ranked and currently first in the South Central Ohio League with a 9-1 record.

    The Hillsboro boys track and field team placed first at the annual Western Brown Invitational on Tuesday, winning the event in convincing fashion with a score of 164 points. The Indians won over second-place Blanchester, who totaled 118.5 points.
