    Baseball is described as a game of inches where momentum can swing from one side to the other in an instant. On Tuesday night, the Whiteoak Wildcats gained the momentum of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference game with their two-out hitting in the fifth inning to defeat rival Lynchburg-Clay, 3-0.

    The Fairfield Lady Lions spent the weekend participating in the Akron Racers Spring Showcase Tournament in Akron and playing some very tough Division II and III opponents. The games were rained out on Sunday, but the Fairfield varsity team was able to play three games and the Fairfield JV team two games.

    Due to an issue related to a pending teaching position, the Greenfield Exempted Village Schools Board of Education is not expected to announce a new varsity football coach at its April 16 meeting. It was reported by The Highland County Press on April 14 that the board was expected to vote on Daniel Baker as the new McClain Tigers’ varsity football coach. According to GEVS Superintendent Joe Wills, Baker remains in consideration for the coaching job. However, Wills said, “This has always been a teaching job first.”
