    Oliver Kirby “RedBuck” White was a professional baseball pitcher and native of Highland County. Born in the county in 1884, his family was very athletic. His family was also gifted in the art of making things, especially inventions that have helped to build this nation.

    In the past few months, we have heard lots of stories on the news about Zika. It was mostly a concern for the 2016 Olympic Athletes who would be traveling to South America for the games in Brazil, so I guess we can blame it on Rio.

  • Yost: Audit finds more illegal spending in Martinsville

    An audit released this week by Auditor of State Dave Yost issued $7,380 in findings for recovery against former village officials and employees for misspending tax dollars on items including fuel, clothing, food and auto supplies. The audit covered the period Jan. 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2014.

  • ODOT opens new full-service maintenance facility in West Union

    At a cost of approximately $6 million, the new complex includes a nearly 18,400-square-foot truck storage building and a 5,232-square foot office and maintenance building with advanced technical and electronic systems. The site also houses a 5,040-square foot cold storage building, salt and materials storage buildings, and fuel storage.
